Abstract
|
|
|
Paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria is an uncommon acquired disease of unknown etiology characterized by recurrent chronic hemolytic anemia and thrombosis. Rarely acute renal failure may occur. The pathogenesis of acute renal failure in PNH is
not
well
understood.
We experienced two cases, which were shown acute renal failure and hemolytic anemia as first manifestation and then diagnosed as PNH by Ham's test. These patients might be progressed acute renal failure by hemolytic crisis associated with
aggravating
factors such as dehydration, hypotension, and renal ischemia.
